The 3rd annual EnerJew counsellor seminar took place in Petersburg, Russia last week. The seminar is part of a year-long training course designed to prepare energetic and creative group leaders for the youth movement’s city clubs.
Activists and aspiring leaders from 16 cities participated in the Petersburg seminar. They returned home with the goals of expanding the club’s activity in the regions. The counsellor course is unique in that it combines training by professional mentors, who are gurus of informal youth education, and lectures by young rabbis, who provide the young counsellors or madrichim with Jewish content and knowledge to fill club activities. EnerJew is the FSU region’s Jewish youth movement active in 25 cities throughout 6 countries and is growing constantly.
Beside the seminar activities, the participants also toured the city and discovered its rich Jewish history.
