“Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him” (Psalm 68:4)

From the Sephardic songs of pre-Medieval times to the 20th Century plays of Paddy Chayefsky, theater, song and dance are a vital and integral part of Jewish life. As part of the resurgence of Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union, the FJC sponsors Klezmer bands, Jewish theater companies and dance troupes and choirs. We also contribute to Jewish film, music, drama and dance festivals throughout the FSU.

But perhaps one of our greatest achievements in this realm is the revival of Jewish identity through local productions, such as concerts, Chanukah plays, Purim shpiels and more through our performing arts funds; for it is one of the more fascinating ways that local participants can actively rediscover their Jewish roots.
