History in Jewish Perm: Construction of New JCC Now Underway

After years of anticipation, the construction of a new state-of-the-art Jewish ‘Chesed’ Community Center in the center of Perm, Russia, has excitedly begun.

Following the permit issued by the local architecture and urban planning department approximately three years ago, construction workers on behalf of the Jewish Community of Perm, headed by Rabbi Zalmen Deutch, have started building on the allocated plot of land in the city’s center.

Financing for the new JCC, planned to be completed within two years, is generously being provided by the leadership of the Jewish communities of Russia, along with philanthropists, organizations, and caring individuals from across the world interested in contributing to the revival of Russian Jewry.

The city of Perm is the largest city in the Perm Krai federal subject of Russia, located on the western slope of the Middle Ural Mountains. The new JCC is planned to serve the thousands of Jews living across the city and enable the development of the thriving community.
