Jewish Mothers from Ukraine Complete ‘Momentum’ Trip to Israel

A special six-day journey to Israel for a group of Jewish mothers from Ukraine recently came to a conclusion. This unique trip, organized by ‘Momentum’, was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Kollel Torah Intuitive, the Chabad Women’s Club in Odesa, and additional Jewish communities in Ukraine, Russia, and Europe. The eight-day journey provided the participants with moving and inspiring experiences across Israel.

The trip began in Kfar Chabad, where the Jewish mothers visited the replica of 770, the worldwide headquarters of Chabad. This was an emotional experience, especially for those who had visited the Lubavitcher Rebbe in New York. The group then traveled to southern Israel, where they visited the tragic site of the ‘Nova’ musical festival beside the Reim Kibbutz. There, they participated in the beginning of writing a Torah scroll in memory of the victims and helped harvest strawberries in a nearby settlement.

The following days were dedicated to Jerusalem, the highlight of the trip. The women toured the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum, prayed at the Western Wall, and had a touching meeting with a former Odesa student who had enlisted in the IDF as a lone soldier. This encounter was particularly emotional as the group supported and strengthened him during his induction ceremony at the Western Wall, in the absence of his family.

Throughout the journey, the women met participants from around the world, exchanged experiences, and learned from each other. The group was accompanied by Rebbetzin Malka Hartman, who greatly contributed to the success of the trip by providing confidence and tranquility to all participants.

The women returned to their families and communities feeling rejuvenated, optimistic, and prouder of their Jewish identity.

The Momentum Journey empowers women to connect to Jewish values, engage with Israel, take action, and foster unity. It includes a profound, personal eight-day experience in Israel, during which women explore the Jewish homeland, gain inspiring Jewish wisdom, and join a global Jewish sisterhood. Back home, women channel their energy and passion personally, professionally, and communally, and continue their journey through educational and leadership programs.
