New Synagogue opens in a series of events

Only four days before the beginning of the New Year, the Jewish community of Nikolayev, Ukraine, celebrated the reopening of their grand Synagogue after being closed for major renovations. The event was celebrated in a series of exciting events.

A delegation of parliament members from Israel and heads of the Israel’s Education Ministry arrived especially to participate in the ceremony that opened with the ‘First bell’, the opening of the new learning year at the local FJC’s ‘Or Avner’ Jewish school. During the event, warm words were delivered by the honorable guests.

The next event marked the opening of the newly renovated Synagogue, thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Israel Alashwilli from Moscow.

An additional event focused on the ‘Twin cities’ project, in which children from the local ‘Or Avner’ school and children from the Nes Tziona Chabad School in Israel, study weekly together online.

The last event took place in the offices of the local Mayor and the Governor. Both received the delegations warmly and spoke about their commitment to the safety and flourishing of the Jewish community.
