Hundreds of community members, guests and dignitaries, participated last Sunday in the festive inauguration of a new Torah scroll that was donated by Mr. Reuben Yedgarov, and introduced into the grand Synagogue and JCC of Perm.
The last letters of the Torah scroll were written in a special ceremony that took place in the local ‘Puppet home’. Then, a colorful parade proceeded through the main streets of Perm, once the only road on the exile to Siberia, accompanied by an army band.
After arriving at the Synagogue, dancing and singing were held in honor of the new Torah scroll, and the event concluded with a festive meal that continued for many hours. [nggallery id=202]
