Hundreds of community members, guests and dignitaries, participated last Sunday in the inauguration of a new Torah scroll that was donated to the Jewish community and introduced into the Synagogue and JCC of Sochi, Russia.

The last letters of the Torah scroll were written in a special ceremony that was attended by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar and the rabbis of the Jewish community of Petersburg.

A colorful parade proceeded through the main streets of Sochi, considered a beautiful resort for tourists, towards the newly renovated Synagogue.

After arriving at the Synagogue, dancing and singing were held in honor of the new Torah scroll, and the event concluded with a festive meal that continued for many hours into the night.
