Ukraine: Hundreds of Needy Jewish Children Receive New School Backpacks

‘Taste of Life’ and ‘LifeChanger FSU’ joined forces to distribute new school backpacks and supplies to over 200 needy Jewish children entering first-grade across Ukraine, towards the new academic year. Both organizations are run and supported by the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS, and treat thousands of Jewish children in the former Soviet Union.

‘Together to School’ is the name of the humanitarian educational initiative addressing the needs of Ukraine’s most needy and vulnerable children for nearly a decade. The children and their families, who are closely monitored throughout the entire year by both organizations working hand-in-hand, gladly accepted the beautiful new school backpacks and supplies and thanked the organizations and their sponsors for their year-round assistance.

Most of the recipients, from 21 different cities and regions in Ukraine, are new students entering first-grade. However, a few children from higher grades who also needed new backpacks received them.

“The school backpacks and supplies initiative,” says Ms. Irina Chernobrivets, executive director and project manager of LifeChanger FSU, “is only the tip of the iceberg. Our organizations, each focusing on different social and humanitarian aspects, provide holistic treatment to every single Jewish child in need, and their extended family, making sure they can grow up healthy and become strong, happy and independent individuals.”

FJC’s life saving humanitarian aid projects are made possible thanks to the generosity of donors and foundations from across the globe.
