New Jewish Business Club Launched in Kaliningrad

A new Jewish business club has been established in Kaliningrad, also known as Königsberg, bringing together members of the local community for professional exchange and mutual support. The inaugural gathering, held at the city’s historic synagogue, under the leadership of Chabad emissary Rabbi Avraham Baruch Deitch, welcomed members of the board of trustees alongside invited guests.

Centered on the theme “A world of kindness shall be built,” the evening highlighted the role of shared values in shaping responsible and meaningful business activity.

The first session focused on the field of medicine, featuring presentations by experienced physicians Dr. Valery Shelest and Dr. Konstantin Polyakov. Drawing on their extensive professional backgrounds, the speakers explored the importance of investment in healthcare and its natural connection to Jewish ethical principles. The topic was also chosen in anticipation of the upcoming Passover holiday, when matzah is traditionally described by the Sages as both the “bread of faith” and the “bread of healing.”

The new club aims to serve as an ongoing platform for Jewish entrepreneurs in Kaliningrad to meet regularly, exchange ideas, and support one another. Participants expressed hope that the initiative will strengthen both business cooperation and community life, rooted in a shared sense of responsibility and Jewish identity.
