President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated the Jews of Ukraine on the Jewish New Year.
“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah – New Year 5780. For the Jewish community, these holidays are becoming a time of spiritual reflection, good deeds, and the pursuit of a righteous life in the next year. Tragic events in history have made us all stronger and more compassionate because we managed to preserve not only our national identity and distinctive culture, but also gain state independence,” the head of state said in a letter of congratulations posted on his website on Sunday, September 29.
Zelensky thanked the Jewish community of Ukraine for active participation in the country’s public life.
“I believe that we are united in a common purpose – to live in a free, peaceful, democratic and highly developed Ukraine. I wish everyone good health and peace in families. A sweet and happy New Year!” the greeting reads.
