Olympic Sochi greets new Torah

While the city of Sochi gets ready to host the Olympics, the Jewish community in the town last week proudly inaugurated a new Torah Scroll donated by one of its prominent activists in memory of his Mother. Three days later his father sadly also passed away.

The new Torah, whose first letters were written at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, was inaugurated last Thursday by Mr. David Kasanvitch in memory of his mother Chaya OBM. On Sunday the sad news arrived that his father had also passed away.

The event was attended by hundreds the community’s members, guests, friend and relatives of the Kasanvitch family.[nggallery id=245]
