A Week of Rest and Renewal: STARS Ukraine Summer Seminar Successfully Concludes

Forty-five Jewish students and young professionals from across Ukraine recently completed a weeklong summer seminar in the Carpathian Mountains organized by STARS Ukraine, offering a vital opportunity for both physical rest and spiritual renewal. Set in a serene countryside location, the seminar provided a peaceful contrast to the ongoing tension and instability still felt in many parts of the country.

Led by Rabbi Pinchas Vishedski, CEO of STARS Ukraine and Rabbi of Kyiv’s KEDEM community, together with Rebbetzin Dina Vishedski, the program featured a rich blend of Jewish learning, social bonding, and inspiring Chassidic gatherings. Participants enjoyed diverse lectures and classes on Jewish topics, trips, recreational activities, and high-quality accommodations and kosher meals, all supported by a dedicated and caring staff.

STARS Ukraine continues to be a pillar of support for Jewish students navigating prolonged challenges, offering regular seminars throughout the year during winter, Passover, and summer. These gatherings attract hundreds of young Jewish professionals and students seeking meaning, connection, and community.

“This consistent commitment to organizing seminars and bring students together from across Ukraine, has proven invaluable” says Rabbi Vishedski. “It strengthens the fabric of young Jewish life and nurtures a dynamic future leadership for Jewish communities across the country.”

This summer’s seminar stood out for its inclusion of new participants who had not previously engaged in STARS’ city-based programs. Their involvement marks the beginning of their ongoing participation in STARS educational and community activities as the academic year begins.

This successful seminar was made possible through the unwavering support and encouragement of esteemed partner organizations. The STARS world organization, led by Rabbi Avi Kessel; JRNU, led by Rabbi Shlomo Peles; and the umbrella organization YAHAD, guided by Rabbi Mendy Wilansky and operating within the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC), all played crucial roles in ensuring the resounding success of this event.
