As the Jewish New Year nears, the Yahaduton Channel has released a special new video in Russian and Ukrainian, offering a clear and engaging explanation of the central mitzvah of Rosh Hashanah — the sounding of the shofar.
Produced by the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC) and JRNU, Chabad’s humanitarian network in Ukraine, in collaboration with the Yahaduton Channel, the video features well-known actor Oded Menaster, who presents key insights about the shofar — many of which may surprise even seasoned listeners.
Set to the sounds of the shofar blown by Rabbi Shmuel Bistritzky, founder of the Yahaduton Channel and Community Rabbi of Savyon, the video aims to awaken spiritual reflection and encourage participation in this timeless mitzvah.
“The mitzvah of the shofar stirs something deep within each of us,” shared Rabbi Bistritzky. “Everyone is warmly invited to attend local synagogues and Chabad Houses to take part in this meaningful tradition.”
The video is part of an ongoing initiative to make Jewish traditions more accessible and understandable to communities across the region.
