Rostov Family Club Opens Its 2nd Year

The Jewish community in Rostov, Russia marked the beginning of the new 5777 Hebrew year with the season’s opening of its Jewish family-oriented club right before Rosh Hashanah this week. The club, named ‘Mishpaha’, conducts Jewish activities and events for the entire family and this year is the second year of its operations.

The festive opening was centered around Rosh Hashanah themes and symbols: the children and their parents learned to blow the Shofar, baked Challah, made greeting cards and prepared plates of apples and honey. For some, it was their first time immersing in the world of Jewish tradition.

Over 50 families participated in the clubs’ opening activity and none came away disappointed – besides learning new meaningful information and having fun, they also received a bag of goodies to take home for the upcoming holidays.
