An educational training session on emergency preparedness was held this week at the Dnipro Jewish Community Center, organized by the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine (JRNU), Chabad and FJC’s humanitarian arm in Ukraine. The session brought together local Jewish community leaders and activists to enhance their awareness and readiness for potential security threats such as terrorist or antisemitic attacks.

The training was led by Ilya Golberg, Chief Security Advisor at JRNU, who focused on developing clear and practical procedures for community staff to follow during emergencies, rather than on building large-scale security systems.

Through a series of real-life case studies, Golberg emphasized how a consistent and simple set of actions can mitigate risks and prevent serious outcomes. He also shared international examples, showing how well-trained staff in Jewish organizations abroad have responded effectively to various security challenges.

“Security is not only about technical measures,” noted Rabbi Reuven Kaminetsky, “but also about the readiness of each individual to understand its importance and know how to act in any situation: what to pay attention to, how to assess the situation, and how to build correct behavior. We are very grateful to JRNU and to Ilya Golberg for this important and timely training.”

The initiative is part of JRNU’s broader effort to support Jewish communities across Ukraine by strengthening safety awareness and building resilience through education.
