Putin’s visit to Israel accompanied by the FJC

Russia’s President Mr. Vladimir Putin’s visit to Israel was accompanied by representatives of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS. Putin’s schedule included an historical visit to the Western Wall.

The President’s visit started in the city of Netanya with the inauguration of a memorial for Soviet soldiers who fought the Nazis during WWII . The event was attended by leading figures from the FJC, who later on participated in a special dinner reception hosted by Mr. Shimon Peres, the President of Israel, and in Putin’s historical visit to the Kotel, the Western Wall.

The FJC’s delegation was introduced to President Peres by Putin himself who maintains an excellent relationship with the Jewish community. The delegation included Mr. Lev Leviev, the president of the FJC of the CIS, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, Rabbi Alexander Boroda, the president of the FJC of Russia and Mr. Shlomo Peles the secretary and treasurer of the FJC.
