The SmartJ educational initiative, active in dozens of Jewish communities throughout the FSU, concluded its activity season with a vibrant series of celebrations inspired by ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass.’ Thousands of Jewish children took part in these imaginative and engaging parties, held at each local SmartJ center.

SmartJ, founded by the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC) in partnership with Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs, offers after-school programs for children aged 5–13. The initiative combines Jewish identity education, academic enrichment, and essential life skills, and has become a pillar of informal Jewish education across the region.

The end-of-season events provided not only joyful experiences but also an opportunity for children to share their achievements with their families. The creative adventures were developed by the SmartJ team and adapted for all branches.

Kindergarten-aged children in their final preschool year also celebrated their accomplishments with a special ‘forest’ themed event. They showcased what they learned, received certificates recognizing their progress, and were invited to attend an open house for the upcoming SmartJ season.

Additionally, over 300 participants joined an online gathering that marked the end of a year-long motivational game led by the beloved character ‘Megamoach’ (Super Brain). Children across various centers completed challenges throughout the year, competing for a grand prize: a city-based excursion. Several centers were awarded trips, along with certificates of achievement.

A separate online gathering was organized to honor SmartJ staff for their dedication over the past year. During this meeting, project leaders shared plans for the future, expressed their gratitude, and extended warm wishes for a restful summer break.
